As 2025 comes to a close, it’s time I reach out again for support towards the project’s completion funds. I’ve never been very good at making such pitches. My time is so preoccupied between working on the film and my new teaching job, that fundraising efforts easily fall by the wayside.
It’s been an eventful year, with clips from the film being showcased at the Muzeo Museum in Anaheim, California, as well as our receiving accolades from the Communicator Awards, Telly Awards, and Davey Awards. I’m grateful to everyone whose provided support so far – be it through financial donations, volunteering their creative efforts, and other resources and referrals along the way.
But there’s still so much to do. Post production often presents the most challenging part of making documentaries. We’re developing animated sequences, as well as pouring through decades of archival photos and film and video footage. It’s a time consuming process, and much more complex than I could have ever imagined.
The project has non-profit 501©(3) fundraising status through our fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas, a New York based arts service organization. Any donations you make are tax-deductible where applicable by law.
As our way of saying “thank you,” donors can receive a number of rewards perks – from prints on paper or canvas, to an original MAD MAX: BEYOND THUNDERDOME poster from Richard Amsel’s own personal collection. (This year marks the film’s 40th anniversary.)
One very popular reward is an assortment of postcards made from Amsel’s work. This now includes several new designs, from portraits of Robert Redford and The Muppets, to newly discovered illustrations featuring Paul Newman and Judy Garland.
Many older card designs are going fast -- so I’ve set aside a few batches of the ENTIRE collection of Amsel art, along with new envelopes featuring the artist’s logo.
This collection of 30 postcards is available to the first five donors who pledge $100 or more.
Your donation will help us to complete the documentary, and help preserve the legacy of an artist gone far too soon. To learn more, please go to www.richardamselmovie.com, or check out our donation page at https://www.richardamselmovie.com/donate-contribute.
Happy Holidays!
