One of Amsel's more obscure pieces was for the 1979 romantic drama OLD BOYFRIENDS, starring Talia Shire, Richard Jordan, Keith Carradine, and John Belushi.
The illustration below, as far as I know, was only published once, in a double-page VARIETY trade ad announcing the film's completion of principal photography. The final poster used a photographic reference, rather than Amsel's artwork.
This image required extensive cleanup and digital restoration -- so much that I knew I just wouldn't have the time to do it all myself. I therefore tasked the talented Stephanie Mann for help. Stephanie has been a longtime collaborator on this project, including a number of the elaborate animated motion graphics you'll see in the film.
